TSM INTERNATIONAL HOSPITAL ALLIANCE

Budgeting for medical care in Japan

Build your personal medical travel budget by separating hospital, coordination, interpretation, visa, transport, accommodation and contingency costs.

Separate seven cost categories before calculating your total

Medical fees are only part of the total. Obtain separate quotes for hospital care, coordination, interpretation, visas and guarantees, transport and accommodation, then allow for changes or additional tests.

All amounts are in Japanese yen (JPY). Convert other currencies before entering them; no live exchange rates are provided. Blank items count as zero, which does not mean they are free.

Subtotal: 0 JPY
Contingency (15%): 0 JPY

This calculation is for financial planning, not a medical quotation. Confirm actual fees in writing with the institution, coordinator, insurer and travel providers separately.

How costs are confirmed

Before a coordination agreement and hospital acceptance, website figures can only be estimates. Your coordinator explains known charges before confirmation. Visa circumstances or changes in tests or treatment after assessment may affect costs.

Why hospital fees vary

Institutions generally set their own fees for overseas patients without Japanese health insurance and may use different prices per medical fee point. Tests, consultations, admission, medicines, materials and treatment plans affect the total.

What to confirm before medical travel

Confirm what estimates include, payment timing, refund and amendment rules, approval of extra charges, review timelines, interpretation, and what happens if a visa is refused or the hospital cannot accept you.

Insurance and payment

We can assist with documentation for Chinese or international insurance. Direct billing, coverage, deductibles and reimbursement rates depend on the insurer and policy. Neither TSM nor the institution guarantees reimbursement.

International patient fees, eligibility and taxes vary by institution. Use the chosen hospital's latest written information; do not treat another hospital's or patient's costs as your personal quote.
